No matter how big or small your garden or lawn is, you’re likely to face the challenge of getting rid of it effectively and organically. However, there are plenty of ways to get rid of weeds without using chemicals.

Baking soda is a great all-rounder for cleaning. But it can also help you fight weeds. Just sprinkle some baking soda on the weeds and you’ll be able to get rid of them effectively.

Salt

Salt is another great way to fight weeds. You’ve got two options. You can either cut the weeds at the ground and cover them with salt, or you can make a salt solution (1 litre of salt to 2 litres of water) and pour it over the whole bed. This method will not only help you to get rid of existing weeds, but it’ll also stop new ones from appearing.

Hot water

You might be surprised to hear that even ordinary hot water can be an effective weapon in the fight against weeds. Hot water can be used to destroy weed cells and cause them to dry out. Just a heads-up! It’s best to avoid watering the surrounding plants, otherwise you could easily lose them.

Vinegar and water as a natural herbicide

Another great way to tackle weeds is with a mix of vinegar and water. Mix the vinegar and water in a 1:3 ratio. The vinegar acts as a natural herbicide that disrupts weed growth. Then, water the areas where the weeds are present and watch them gradually wither.

Alcohol

Another effective method is the use of alcohol. Just mix 30ml of vodka with 3dl of water, add a little soap and pour the prepared mixture over the weed. Alcohol has a dehydrating effect, causing the plants to dry out.
