Stickers are everywhere these days, from new clothes to books and kitchenware. While they can sometimes be useful, they can also be annoying, especially when they leave adhesive residue or scratches on surfaces. There are a few ways we can try to get rid of them.

When it comes to removing stickers mechanically, there are a few things to watch out for.
The first thing that might come to mind is using a sharp tool to simply remove the sticker. However, this only works on hard materials like glass or metal. If you’re trying to remove a sticker from something soft like fabric, it’s best to avoid this approach to avoid damaging the material.

Here’s how to remove stickers from bottles:

If you’re struggling to remove a sticker from a glass bottle, try putting it in the dishwasher and removing it straight after washing, while it’s still hot. Another thing you can do is pour hot water into the bottle. This will soften the adhesive and make the sticker easier to remove.

Oil or alcohol

Stickers are often stuck on with glue that can be dissolved with cooking oil. Just apply the oil to a cloth and put it on the sticker to work. After an hour or so, the sticker should come off easily. Alcohol can also be used, but the exposure time is shorter – you can try removing the sticker after just 10 minutes.

If you’re having trouble removing stickers from dishes, try putting them in an oven set on low for 30 minutes. This is a great way to remove stickers or glue marks from solid materials.

Removing stickers from plastic

If you use an aggressive sticker removal method, you might scratch the plastic. Instead, fill the sink or bathtub with hot water, add a cup of white vinegar and a tablespoon of dishwashing detergent. Put the object with the sticker in the solution so that the sticker is completely submerged, and leave it to soak for 20 minutes. Gently rub the sticker with your fingers until it peels off.
