The homemade trick to clean the iron and make it look as if it had just been bought
The plate is one of the appliances that is used from time to time to iron wrinkled clothes. In fact, ironing is one of the most boring chores to do in the home and over time, dark stains or residues may appear on the metal base.
These stains give the iron an old look and can stain clothes. However, there is a homemade trick to clean the iron and it is as good as new.
How to clean stained iron
There are different homemade ingredients to clean the iron and make it as good as new
Sodium bicarbonate
Baking soda is one of the homemade ingredients used to clean the griddle, with special care. It should not enter through the holes and inside the griddle.
Cotton swabs
For clean the holes where the steam comes out of the water, you can put some cotton swabs with white vinegar to make it much easier to remove the dirt and remove it completely. In addition, you can put the vinegar in the tank of the iron, turn it on as if you were going to iron and press the button so that the steam comes out and cleans the holes.
White vinegar
Another alternative to remove the stain from the iron is to place on the table a cloth dampened with white vinegar and then, put on it with the iron plate down for 30 minutes. Once the time has elapsed, rub gently to remove the stains by mistake.
Toothpaste
Apply a small amount of toothpaste over the sole of the iron cold. Rub with a cloth or soft sponge. Wipe with a damp cloth to remove toothpaste and dry thoroughly.
Neutral soap and water
Mix warm water with a little neutral soap. Moisten a cloth with the mixture and rub the soleplate of the iron. Clean with a damp cloth to remove soap and dry thoroughly.
Precautions
- Unplug the iron: make sure the iron is unplugged and completely cool before you start cleaning it.
- Avoid abrasive objects: do not use abrasive objects such as metal sponges, as they may damage the surface of the iron.
