We all love having a dishwasher in our lives, don’t we? They’re so versatile! But, as with most appliances, there are a few things they’re not suitable for. Unfortunately, that means they can’t wash all types of utensils. Why is that? Well, it’s because some objects can get damaged or spoil the machine.
Things you should never wash in the dishwasher:
- Cast iron pans. “They lose their non-stick surface in the dishwasher and become susceptible to rust”;
- Non-stick pans. Unfortunately, “hot water can wear away the non-stick surface”;
- ‘Special’ knives. This is the case with “steak knives, chef’s knives and paring knives, which should not be put in the dishwasher” because they become less sharp and, in the long run, completely ruined;
- Wooden utensils. “Wooden spoons and boards can warp and crack in the dishwasher due to prolonged exposure to humidity and heat.”
- More delicate or antique dishes.
