Say Goodbye to Cobwebs Forever with a Simple Kitchen Solution – No Chemicals Required
Remove Moss Easily with This One Kitchen Item: No Vinegar or Chemicals Needed
Moss can be a huge hassle to clean, and it seems to appear no matter how often you scrub. However, there is a very simple way to prevent it from growing back with just one common kitchen item.
Moss can attach itself to porous surfaces like stone, brick, or concrete and can penetrate small crevices, making it very difficult to clean, no matter how often you scrub.
Lenard Nagy, an expert from Perfect Clean Cleaning Services, said: “Moss growth on surfaces is a common problem that can make your concrete look dirty, dull, and unattractive.
“It can also damage your concrete over time by creating cracks and holes and pose a safety risk by making your concrete slippery, leading to falls and injuries.”
However, there is an incredibly easy and quick way to remove this green nuisance, according to Lenard, and you don’t need harsh chemicals or specialized equipment.
What is the best way to remove moss from patios?
It turns out that baking soda is one of the most effective ways to remove moss from stones and prevent it from growing back.
Baking soda causes moss to dry out quickly and die in no time.
Moss also prefers to grow in acidic areas, and baking soda is very alkaline, so it will change the pH level of a stone surface to create an environment where moss cannot grow.
Lenard said: “Baking soda is a common household item that you can use to remove moss from concrete.
“Baking soda is a base that can raise the pH level of the moss and kill it… [and it] is also mild and safe for your concrete and the environment.”
How to remove moss from patios?
All you need to do is sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over a moss-covered area, ensuring the moss is completely covered.
Make sure the baking soda does not land on plants or grass, as baking soda dries out anything organic it comes into contact with.
A small amount of baking soda is unlikely to harm your garden, but be cautious and try not to test this cleaning solution on a windy or rainy day to prevent it from spreading.
Once you’ve applied the baking soda, let it sit for 24 hours to penetrate the moss fully, and it will start to turn brown immediately.
After that time, the moss should be completely dried out. Use a broom or a stiff brush to remove the dead moss from your patio.
Rinse the patio with a garden hose or pour a bucket of soapy water over it to wash away any remaining baking soda or dead moss, and it will now be sparkling clean and moss-free.
