Instead of using physical force, it is recommended to use insecticide sprays, cockroach gel baits, or “cockroach traps.” These products are specifically designed to eliminate cockroaches without spreading their germs.

Professor Li also suggests three simple ways to eliminate cockroaches from our lives:

1. Prevent Entry

To keep cockroaches from entering your living space, seal all entry points using silicone to fill gaps and cracks in floors and walls. Ensure all hiding spots are eliminated, especially focusing on drainage pipes. Repair any damages immediately to prevent entry. Regularly clean kitchen and bathroom drains.

2. Eliminate Habitats

Remove potential habitats and breeding grounds for cockroaches. Avoid accumulating old newspapers, cardboard boxes, and paper bags inside and outside your home. Keeping your home clutter-free minimizes hiding places for cockroaches. Denying them shelter will force them out.

3. Proper Food and Waste Storage

Ensure proper storage of food and food waste. Keep trash cans covered to prevent cockroaches from accessing leftover food. Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and sink. Cockroaches thrive in moisture-rich environments, which aids their survival and reproduction. Therefore, avoid damp areas in your home.
