Salmonella, E.coli or listeria are three bacteria that can appear in the toilet. They pose a serious health risk because infection with one of them can lead to hospitalisation. As you know, prevention is better than cure. That’s why the toilet should be freshened daily.
You can use ready-made toilet cleaners or make your own cleaning cube to get rid of bacteria and unpleasant smells. How to prepare it? It’s very simple. You need three things – baking soda, citric acid and your favorite essential oil.
Choose a large bowl and pour 100g of baking soda and 100g of acid into it. Mix the two ingredients together and drizzle with 40 drops of essential oil. Spray the finished powder with a little water. Now put gloves on your hands as this combination irritates the skin. Place the mixture in an ice cube tray and put it in the freezer. Use them once a day, preferably in the evening. The baking soda and acid will remove bacteria, limescale and dirt, and the essential oil will add a pleasant scent. Simply put such a homemade remedy in a container for used toilet cubes or drip it directly into the toilet.

Ready-made toilet cubes are based on very strong ingredients that get rid of dirt and bacteria. Unfortunately, after just a few uses, they wear out and the packaging usually ends up in the trash. Not many people know this, but you can use them repeatedly. Just fill them with… laundry granules. This is a popular product that will make your laundry smell nice and fresh.
How do you do that? Put gloves on your hands. Open the pack of cubes and then fill them with pellets. Place the pendant back on the edge of the washing machine and after each use, a lovely scent will waft out.
