Anyone who has a vegetable garden at home knows how much care and work it can be. Tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers don’t always grow all by themselves. It is not uncommon for long-awaited vegetables not to grow as they should. Some home remedies can help.

If you want to grow cucumbers in your own garden, for example, you can make use of a healthy drink that is supposed to protect against diseases and provide more nutrients, among other things.

Milk trick helps when growing cucumbers

The drink in question is milk. That’s right. Milk can help grow cucumbers and keep the plants healthy. Milk has positive properties when it comes to keeping diseases away from plants and supplying the cucumber with nutrients.

We all know that milk contains important and valuable nutrients such as potassium, calcium and magnesium, which are not only good for us humans. Cucumber plants can also benefit from it. Calcium, magnesium and potassium can be just as good for the growth of cucumbers. The nutrients are absorbed through the soil or the leaves and are thus said to contribute to the health of the plant.

Another advantage of milk when growing cucumbers: Milk contains proteins and enzymes that are said to be effective against certain fungal diseases. Milk is said to be particularly effective against mildew, ridding the cucumber of it.

If you want healthy cucumbers, you should also make sure that the soil is good. This means that the soil should be full of beneficial microorganisms. And this is where milk can help. Milk can promote and support the growth of such microorganisms. This strengthens the growth of the cucumber plant and keeps it healthy.

How do you use milk when growing cucumbers?

There are two ways to use milk when growing cucumbers: Making a milk solution to treat the leaves with or a milk solution for the soil.

For the soil treatment, you can dilute one part milk with four parts water. You can now use the diluted milk solution to water the soil around the cucumber plant. Make sure that the soil is not flooded. This will allow the nutrients to be absorbed by the roots of the plant.

If you want to treat the leaves of the cucumber with a milk solution, mix one part milk with nine parts water. Pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray the leaves of the cucumber plant with it every two weeks. This should prevent fungal diseases.

Tip: When applying the milk solution, it is best to use low-fat milk, which does not go rancid so quickly. You should also avoid flooding the soil with it, as this can lead to rotting.
