The Genius Cork Trick for Your Fridge Every Homemaker Should Know

56views

Even the tiniest objects, like a cork stopper, can do wonders for your appliances! They can help your appliances last longer, which is always a plus.

Many of us certainly enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. Commercial wine corks are a real boon for the fridge. And that’s because they keep away the unpleasant odors that inevitably occur in the fridge.

The unpleasant smells we are often confronted with when we open the fridge door are either due to strong-smelling foods such as certain types of cheese (gorgonzola, for example) or dishes containing onions and garlic, spoiled food (rotting fruit or vegetables that we forget about) or incorrect storage (food or dishes that are not covered with foil or in containers that don’t close tightly).

Why it’s good to put a cork in the fridge

So, to get rid of the odor that’s nesting in your fridge, all you need to do is take a cork and place it on a shelf in the fridge. Or you can cut it into 2 or 3 pieces and place it on several shelves.

Do the same in your freezer or freezer drawers. If you apply this trick in the evening, you’ll notice that by morning the odor disappears.
Cork is a porous material that absorbs moisture and unpleasant odors. In addition, you can pour a drop of citrus essential oil on the cork to perfume the inside of the fridge.

How to prevent unpleasant odors in the fridge

To prevent unpleasant odors, it is recommended to clean your refrigerator every 15-20 days. Empty it completely and clean the inside walls and shelves with a solution of water and bicarbonate of soda, water and lemon or a little vinegar.

To make life easier, do this before you go shopping, when the fridge is almost empty.
