More and more people are turning to natural cosmetics with minimal harmful substances. How to make deodorant at home according to our grandmothers’ recipe?

Making your own natural deodorant just the way you like it is a lot easier than it sounds. Even our grandmothers wanted to smell good, so they made their own products from herbs and commonly available natural sources.

Try making your own healthy antiperspirant by following these simple instructions. The scent is all natural, it won’t irritate your skin, and it’s good for the environment. You decide which scents to use and mix.

Try it differently

Why should you try a natural deodorant? There are many reasons, but these are the most important ones.

Health safety
Natural deodorants are free of aluminum, parabens, and other chemicals that can be harmful.
Gentle on the skin
Natural ingredients are less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions.
Environmentally friendly
Many commercial deodorants are packaged in plastic, while natural deodorants can be stored in glass or metal containers.
Customisation
You can tailor the scent and formulation to your tastes and needs.

Basic ingredients

To make a natural antiperspirant deodorant, you will need the following ingredients:
Coconut oil: It has antibacterial properties and moisturizes the skin.
Oatmeal: It neutralizes odor and absorbs moisture.
Corn starch or arrowroot powder: Helps absorb moisture.
Shea Butter: Moisturizes the skin and relieves irritation.
Essential Oils: Give the deodorant a pleasant scent and may have antibacterial properties (e.g. lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus).

Manufacturing process

Step 1: Preparation of ingredients
Coconut oil: 3 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
Corn starch or arrowroot powder: 2 tablespoons
Shea butter: 2 tablespoons
Essential oils : 10-15 drops (optional, depending on your preference)

Step 2: Dissolve the fats
In a double boiler or in the microwave, melt the coconut oil and shea butter to a liquid consistency.

Step 3: Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, mix together the baking soda and cornstarch or passion fruit powder.

Step 4: Mix the ingredients
Gradually add the dry mixture to the melted coconut oil and shea butter. Mix well to form a smooth paste.

Step 5: Add the essential oils
Add the essential oils of your choice and mix well.

Step 6: Pour into a container
Pour the finished deodorant into a clean sterilized container. You can use old deodorant containers or small jars.

Step 7: Store in the refrigerator
Let the deodorant cool at room temperature or place it in the refrigerator to help it solidify faster.

How to use natural deodorant

Apply natural deodorant with your fingers or a spatula to clean, dry underarms. A small amount is all you need – gently massage it into the skin until it is fully absorbed. If you have sensitive skin, you can test the product on a small area first to see if there is any irritation.

Tips and tricks

Adjusting the consistency
If the deodorant is too thick, add a little more coconut oil. If it is too fine, add more baking soda or starch.
Storage
Store deodorant in a cool, dry place. In hot weather, you may need to store it in the refrigerator to prevent it from melting.

Experimenting with scents
Don’t be afraid to experiment with different essential oils to find the combination that works best for you. Popular oils include lavender, lemongrass, peppermint, rose or tea tree.
Extra care
If you have sensitive skin, you can add a few drops of vitamin E or aloe vera gel to the mix for extra care and protection.
