Sheets: The mistakes we make in washing and do not smell nice

31views

Freshly washed linen often does not have a pleasant odour. This is mainly due to our own mistakes, not because of the fabric or the quality of the sheets.

The cleanliness of bed linen is a daily concern for a large proportion of women. A feeling of freshness and a pleasant odour is what most of them are looking for, but often without the desired result. This is due to certain mistakes we make both during and after washing.

Leaving clothes in the washing machine for a long time

How many times has it happened that you were doing laundry and in the process other things came up or you even fell asleep, causing the laundry or sheets to not come out on time? This is certainly the number one mistake that ruins the flavour of your sheets. The damp environment in the linen drawer fills them with bacteria, sucking out their freshness and making them “dirty” and smelling musty.

Filling the bin with a large amount of laundry

Filling the bin with more laundry than you need will certainly save your precious time, as you can get rid of it right away without a second and third washing machine. However, this method could essentially just be a mistake. Since by doing so, you will not allow the sheets to be cleaned properly and as a consequence, there will be dirt residue left on them.

So, they lack cleanliness and a pleasant smell, but you will also have to wash them again and again. So take your time, do it wisely to save yourself the double hassle and have fragrant sheets

Excessive amount of detergent

While many people think that more detergent or laundry conditioner will add more fragrance and freshness to the sheets, this is actually a huge trap. Large amounts of detergent tend to create a thick layer of soap that traps bacteria inside the fabrics.

As a result, not only do they smell bad, but they don’t get clean from the dirt. Follow the detergent instructions and you’ll find that your sheets will smell instantly!

Don’t clean the bin

Cleaning the washing machine bucket is definitely not a frequent household chore. However, the benefits of a clean bucket are huge, even if you think it’s an unnecessary chore. The purpose of the washing machine is to clean dirty clothes, sheets or towels.

As a result, it absorbs all the dirt and collects a lot of mould (due to its moisture content). So then how will this particular cleaning device provide us with clean cloths if it is not clean itself?

How to dry clothes in 40 minutes without a dryer

The solution is simple and easy. Try it, just wash with an empty bucket, add baking soda and turn on the “Hot Water Only” function. This will remove bacteria and your sheets will now smell fresh. Clean, clean, clean!!!

Incorrect water temperature

Proper water temperature is an issue that is not easy to adjust. On one hand, too high temperatures can damage some delicate fabrics, but on the other hand, it is the only way to kill the bacteria that causes bad odour on your sheets.

So, what you can do before putting them in the washing machine is to read the label with washing instructions for each sheet. Then you can separate them into durable and delicate and finally, choose the right temperature. Yes, it may seem time-consuming and boring, but this is the only way you can properly wash your sheets. Undoubtedly, their freshness will make up for your efforts!

So arm yourself with a big dose of courage, and you’ll be sure that not only your sheets will smell good, but your whole house will too!
