Ants in the house are a real problem. If you don’t notice them for a few days, they multiply in your home at an incredible rate, and then you’ll have a hard time getting rid of them. Don’t wait for anything and go to battle against ants as soon as possible and with full force.

Where do they come from?

Ants have to get into your home somewhere. They usually find their way around windows or doors. They may have made their home in a cupboard with a bin or in the pantry. So when you spot these little workers in your home, take the trouble to find out where they’re coming from. If they’re coming from outside, seal up the places they’re coming in. If you’ve found their source at home, clean the place thoroughly.

Use borax.

One of the easiest recipes for ants is to use borax. Dissolve a tablespoon of borax in 250 ml of warm water (it dissolves poorly in cold water, so choose warm water). Add a couple of tablespoons of sugar to attract the ants. Then soak cotton wool balls in the solution and place them where the ants are. Within a few days, the ant population in your house should be significantly reduced. The cotton swabs will gradually dry out, so replace them if necessary.

When working with borax, be careful not to get it in your eyes, as it can be very irritating. Pregnant women should avoid it.

Laundry powder

Grandma’s advice also says it’s a good idea to put washing powder on the places where ants walk. The ants won’t like the chemistry very much and will stop going through these places. Put washing powder on windowsills or around doors that ants use to get into the house.

Rub vinegar on the ant paths. Ants don’t like it. However, unlike washing powder, the process has to be repeated quite regularly and the vinegar also leaves an odour in the room.
