How to make nettle fertiliser
You need lots of nettles to make fertiliser. You can also use overgrown garden bits. Only use nettle stems without roots in the fertiliser. Collect the stems with gloves and scissors. Fill a bucket with nettles and cover with warm water. Make sure the level is slightly below the rim. Leave the mixture for a week in a warm place. Add yeast to speed up fermentation and enrich the mixture. Stir the mixture.
Add a cup of wood ash to reduce the smell. The mixture is ready when the foam stops forming on the surface.
Diluting nettle fertiliser
Strain the leachate and dilute it 1:10 with rainwater. Use on cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes and other crops. Not for onions, garlic and beans. Water plants with nettle fertiliser once every two weeks. At the same time, loosen the soil and remove weeds from near the plants.
