There are so many amazing tricks out there, but one of the best is the simple freezer bag! It’ll make your next long car journey a breeze and a total breeze.
Vacation time is family time – but the journey can often be a test of patience. Long journeys often mean boredom for the passengers. However, passengers in particular have the opportunity to shorten the journey by watching series or movies.
If only there wasn’t the annoying problem of having to hold your smartphone in your hand for hours on end. In this case, a freezer bag that is supposed to hold the smartphone while driving promises a particularly simple and inexpensive solution.
But is this hack really as practical as it is presented online? We tested the tip for you and checked whether the improvised cell phone holder delivers what it promises – or whether it’s just an internet flop after all.
How the freezer bag works as a cell phone holder
To implement the trick, proceed as follows:
- First remove the front seat headrest.
- Then pull a freezer or cling film bag with the closed side over the fastening rods of the headrest so that the bag is punctured in two places.
- Then replace the headrest so that the resealable end of the bag is facing the rear seat.
- Open the bag and place the smartphone in it horizontally.
- Close the bag – and the cell phone holder is ready.
If you don’t want such a tinkered solution, you can also get a special holder for the headrests to turn the rear seat into a cinema bench:
The hack is convincing: the design holds securely and the touch function of the smartphone is usually fully retained, so you can operate your device comfortably through the film.
The only downside: unfortunately, the trick only works for passengers in the back seat. Anyone sitting next to the driver in the front will have to do without this practical solution.
Depending on the incidence of light, it can also happen that the bag reflects or scatters the sunlight unattractively so that the content on the screen is no longer so easy to see.
However, there are practical holders available that can be attached to the air vents on the passenger side instead. However, it is important that the driver is not distracted by the moving images; the bright light of the display could also be distracting when driving in the dark. Road safety first!
